TruckSafe is offering truck drivers and transport companies the chance to put their compliance queries to an expert panel as part of a free information session in Wodonga on Tuesday, 1 September, 2026.
The information session will help all transport operators understand how accreditation and safety management systems can help achieve compliance with new, national heavy vehicle laws which came into effect on 1 August.
TruckSafe Chair Paul Fellows said industry had a lot of questions about the new laws and the event was designed to give clarity on what the new rules mean and what people need to do to stay compliant.
“We’re inviting drivers, administrators, business owners, law enforcement and anyone interested to come and have a conversation, ask your compliance questions and learn what options are available to help you meet the new rules.”
Under the new laws, operators will be increasingly required to demonstrate how risks are identified, managed and reviewed in their businesses, Mr Fellows said.
“This will help bring our industry more in line with rail, shipping and air freight industries and ultimately improve safety for all road users.”
Attendees can also learn about the upcoming version of TruckSafe’s Safety Management System which will be launched in the coming months.
“The new TruckSafe system will make compliance simple and cost effective, with options available for owner drivers right up to larger fleets,” Mr Fellows said.
“As an industry-led, not-for-profit we are focused on giving transporters a simple option to stay compliant and help operate safe, productive businesses,” he said.
The event will be held at 5pm on Tuesday, 1 September 2026 at the Blazing Stump Hotel in Wodonga.
Free drinks and savouries will be available after the event for attendees to continue the conversation and catch up with contacts.
