TruckSafe will soon release the 2026 TruckSafe safety management system (SMS).

The new TruckSafe SMS will closely align with the new National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (HVA) scheme for General Safety Accreditation (GSA) and Maintenance Assurance Program (MAP). A new owner-operator mini-SMS will also be available for those who drive a truck on their own while their partner manages the books.

TruckSafe will also be launching Fatigue and Mass SMSs to assist with complying to the NHVR Alternative Compliance Accreditation (ACA) modules.

What does this mean for you?

If you are already a TruckSafe certified member, congratulations! Your 2024 TruckSafe SMS already meets the core requirements of the new HVA SMS (GSA + MAP). Your TruckSafe SMS will only require some tweaking to fully align with the 2026 TruckSafe SMS and HVA SMS. Updated sample documentation will be available to assist with the changes.

What else is happening?

TruckSafe certified members will also enjoy receiving recognition of their ACA Fatigue and/or Mass on their TruckSafe SMS certificate when audited to the ACA Fatigue and Mass SMSs by the NHVR. This mutual recognition will save members from having to complete a separate audit for TruckSafe and the NHVR for Fatigue and/or Mass. Details are yet to be finalised and conditions will apply.
