TruckSafe auditors and consultants
One of the strengths of TruckSafe certification is our third party, independent auditing.
Auditors are registered with their registration governed by the TruckSafe Industry Safety Management Council (TISMC)
TruckSafe will not permit the same auditor to conduct more than two consecutive TruckSafe audits on the same business
Oversight is provided throughout the audit process including that audits must be approved by TruckSafe before they can be completed
Completed audits are assessed and approved by our independent expert panel TISMC before a member is certified.
These measures combine to make TruckSafe one of the most rigorous and robust safety management systems within the transport industry. Further information regarding TruckSafe’s auditing system can be found in the TruckSafe Business Rules & Code of Conduct.
Registered TruckSafe Auditors
A registered TruckSafe auditor is a person who has been approved by the TISMC and:
Has been successfully inducted by TruckSafe, and
Attends TruckSafe auditor information/training sessions we hold from time-to-time, and
Abides by the TruckSafe auditing rules and TruckSafe Auditor Code of Conduct, and
Maintains current Professional Indemnity insurance, and
Maintains either their registration with the NHVR as an NHVAS auditor or their ISO 45001 auditor qualification, and
Has been issued with a TruckSafe auditor registration number.
If you are an auditor that is qualified to complete NHVAS or ISO 45001 audits and would like to become a registered TruckSafe auditor you can apply here.
Choosing a registered TruckSafe Auditor
Members are free to choose any registered TruckSafe auditor they wish to complete their 2024 TruckSafe Safety Management System (2024 TS SMS) or 2024 TruckSafe Single Vehicle Owner-Driver Safety System (2024 SVOD SMS) audit before seeking approval from TruckSafe.
The member:
logs into the Member Access portal and obtains the contact details of an auditor they would like to use
contacts the auditor to confirm their cost and availability, agreeing on a date to complete the audit
completes the audit request form and submits to TruckSafe for approval.
TruckSafe will process the request and conduct a series of checks, and if successfully passes them the request will be approved.
Note that it is the responsibility of the member to organise and complete their audit including for all costs associated with conducting any TruckSafe audit.
TruckSafe Consultants
TruckSafe provides members with a list of recognised consultants and auditors that can assist with setting up or reviewing their TruckSafe safety management system. Only these consultants and auditors have the experience and familiar with TruckSafe’s SMSs.
Consultants and auditors not listed in the Member Access portal that claim to be able to set up your TruckSafe SMS are NOT recognised by TruckSafe and may not provide you with a system that meets the requirements of a TruckSafe SMS, or may provide incomplete or misleading information on what is required.
ALWAYS USE A CONSULTANT OR AUDITOR THAT IS RECOGNISED BY TRUCKSAFE!
When using a consultant or auditor to establish or maintan a TruckSafe SMS it is important to note:
Consultants and auditors are not employed by TruckSafe and will charge a fee for providing this service
Only consultants and auditors that are listed in the Member Access portal are recognised and approved by TruckSafe
Auditors who are system advisors or consultants (either as an individual or a company) that establish or maintain a TruckSafe member’s system cannot conduct any TruckSafe audit for that member for two years after ceasing to provide consultation or advisory services to the member.
